A new study has found that Viagra was not the cause of erectile dysfunction and that the drug caused a significant number of cases of priapism.
In a study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, researchers compared the incidence of erectile dysfunction at a large academic medical center in San Francisco with that seen in the U. S. and found a statistically significant difference, with a statistically significant increase in the number of cases of erectile dysfunction.
The researchers examined the medical records of more than 2,300 patients and found that the Viagra use was associated with an increased incidence of erectile dysfunction, with patients who used the drug being 18 times more likely to develop erectile dysfunction than those who did not. The Viagra use was also associated with an increased incidence of priapism, which occurs when blood vessels fail to close during sexual intercourse.
“We conclude that the use of Viagra is not the cause of erectile dysfunction,” said lead researcher Dr. Yaffe Chan, of the Division of Sexual Medicine and Research at the University of Toronto. “This is the first study to report the association of Viagra use with erectile dysfunction.
“These findings raise the possibility that Viagra is not the causative agent for erectile dysfunction, which is why it has been clinically used for a long time.”
The researchers also noted that their study was limited to cases that occurred between September 2006 and September 2011.
According to Chan, the findings of this new study are “an important contribution to the field of clinical trials for treatment of erectile dysfunction.”
The San Francisco based researchers noted that they were unable to provide any information about the relationship between the use of Viagra and priapism. However, Chan said that the researchers’ results are “obviously an important first step” in further research to determine whether Viagra was the causative agent for erectile dysfunction. The study was published in the journalMedicine Reviews.
A recent study published inThe Lancetin the same year found that men taking Viagra reported no more than 3.7 times as many cases of erectile dysfunction as those taking the drug for the first time.
In the study, the researchers compared the incidence of priapism with those who took Viagra and those who did not, while also looking at the causes.
Their results showed that in those who used Viagra, the number of cases of priapism was 10 times higher than those who did not use Viagra.
The authors of the study also said that although the incidence of priapism was higher in those who used Viagra, they did not show the opposite of the results. The researchers said that the use of Viagra was not a cause of erectile dysfunction.
“There are a lot of reasons for erectile dysfunction, but our study shows that Viagra is not the cause of erectile dysfunction,” Chan said.
The researchers said that they were “unable to conclude that the cause of erectile dysfunction was the drug itself.”
The study was published in theJournal of Sexual Medicine, but it was not yet the final stage of its research, the researchers said.
A New York based doctor who has performed clinical trials for Pfizer in the U. is expected to present to the FDA in October.“This is the second study of its kind to be published to address the question of the association between Viagra use and erectile dysfunction,” Chan said. “This is the first study to report the association between Viagra use and erectile dysfunction.”
According to the U. Food and Drug Administration, Viagra is not the cause of erectile dysfunction, but it is a risk factor for priapism. It is not clear whether Viagra was a cause of erectile dysfunction or the effect of the drug on a patient’s sexual health.
In the study, the researchers found that those who used Viagra were 18 times more likely to develop erectile dysfunction than those who did not use the drug. The researchers also noted that the Viagra use was associated with an increased incidence of priapism.
The study is the second study to report the association between Viagra use and erectile dysfunction.

A study published last year in theJournal of the American Medical Associationfound that tadalafil was effective for erectile dysfunction.
